Who are we?
Ortiz Martial Arts Academy was founded on the 3rd of August 2009 by Head instructor Edson Ortiz during his tenure as a purple belt. Ortiz Martial Arts Academy was the first facility in the Pittwater region to offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Our motivation was to spread self defence knowledge to the community and allow individuals to build confidence and uncover that they’re capable of defending themselves. Our aim is to not exclusively teach martial arts but promote the importance of responsibility, discipline, confidence and respect through martial arts. Furthermore we give importance in teaching martial arts to the highest degrees through our uniquely constructed programs.
We emphasise on the quality of our services by providing highly skilled instructors to ensure martial arts knowledge is accessible for everyone of all ages to the highest level as well as promoting a friendly, modern environment to encourage a healthy training environment. Our programs are structured for people of all levels of fitness and experience.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Ortiz Martial Arts Instructors, students will improve their level in martial arts, fitness and further reach towards their own personal goals. And through dedication and time students will see positive changes toward their physique, knowledge, and fitness and uncover their potential through martial arts.
We are a family run academy and take pride in providing the best martial arts knowledge to all ages while merging it with fun, fitness and competition for creating the best learning environment possible.

Ortiz Martial Arts Academy is the first Martial Arts academy in Pittwater to introduce BJJ in our program to provide the best structured programs for learning Martial Arts at any level and age. We have a unique system to teach which provide the best way of learning a complex and effective martial art. Unlike some competitors, great emphasis is put on creating a safe environment for younger and older practitioners so they are able to feel safe while training, creating the environment to provide a necessary boost of confidence to excel in life.
